Hi my name is Michelle. I’ve been a Bilingual Library Associate at JPL for three years and I love every minute of it. My first experience at a library was when I came to this country from Colombia at age 10. In the summer libraries hold a program called “Book Club.” This program helped me learn English fast because it gave me motivation to keep reading and learning. Since then I have always loved libraries by appreciating the many things they offer. My first job in a library was when I went to Ramapo College of New Jersey. It made me realize that libraries play a big role in my life.
At JPL, I focus on the English as a second language community. I do outreaching in schools, churches and public events. I am in charge of the ESL collection. I teach ESL conversation class, basic computer classes in Spanish/English. I help people build their resumes. My goal is to help people who are trying to learn English achieve their needs to succeed in this country.
