Computer Classes

Having a basic understanding of computers is no longer optional in today's world. Our librarians are fully committed to helping every one of our members scale the roadblocks that are standing in the way of computer mastery. Computer classes are available by one-on-one appointments so you can feel confident that you're getting the personal attention you need.

What kinds of things do we help you learn?

  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft Powerpoint
  • Basic Computer
  • Internet and Searching
  • Email
  • Useful websites
  • and more.

Because of the high demand for computer classes and the limited number of instructors, we can only accept applicants who are current residents of the City of Hackensack. If you live in another town that is served by any of the BCCLS libraries, please check with your home library for classes offered there.

Inspect Your Gadget

Sometimes all you need is a patient tech geek who can answer your questions. Well, you've found them! Bring your mobile device--be it iPad, Kindle, Nook, Android, or any smartphone--and your questions, and most importantly bring wide open mind and we'll help you make the most out of your device. Relax. Everything's going to be all right.

Some of the MANY things we've helped people with:

  • Wifi
  • Software updates
  • Downloading apps
  • Setting up email accounts
  • Downoading free library ebooks
  • Skype, FaceTime, and other messaging apps
  • Facebook, Twitter, and other social media apps
  • How to take, edit, and share photos
  • and more!

Inspect Your Gadget sessions are held each and every Thursday at 11am. The class is an hour long, and you can drop in anytime in that slot. Please be mindful however, that we do have to conclude the class at 12 no matter what--even if you came in at 11:55. Please try to be here as close as you can to 11 so we can have the most amount of time to help you. Also, because this is a drop-in session, we never know if there will be 1 person or 2 or 10. We will do our very best to help everyone who comes, but there's no guarantee that you'll have the instructor(s) all to yourself.
