All through college in Canada, I worked in the college library, then later in life I worked in the Children’s department of a public library for a few years. Now I have the dream job of working at Johnson Public Library, where I get to do all kinds of interesting things, but my favorite is ordering the fiction books for adults. I love being introduced to new authors, and my favorites right now are Louise Penny, Wilbur Smith, Anna Quindlen, Ruth Reichl, Gabrielle Zevin, Fredrik Backman, Robert Hellenga, Natalia Sanmartin-Fenollera . . . ! Being involved in one of JPL’s book groups is so much fun because it’s very interesting to see how each person reacts to the books we read together. It’s a richer experience because we share our perspectives and get to see the book from other angles.
