Part time Bilingual Youth Services Monitor
Salary/ Pay Rate 13.00-16.00

Job description:

The Johnson Public Library is seeking a part-time bilingual Youth Services library monitor.

This is a 20-25 hour per week position. The schedule will vary and includes evenings and weekends. Flexibility in scheduling is required.

Duties will include:
  • Shelving library materials in Children’s Department
  • Organizing, shifting and reading shelves in Children’s Department
  • Processing and preparing items for circulation in Children’s Department
  • Assisting patrons at Children’s circulation desk, including checking materials in and out and collecting fines
  • Assisting Teen librarian with regular marketing and programming tasks
  • Occasional Periodicals Department coverage
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Bilingual-Spanish preferred
  • Alpha/numeric sorting abilities
  • Physical ability to bend or sit down to tend to bottom shelves, and lift or shift at least 20 pounds of books
  • Operation of standard computer software including Powerpoint and Google Docs
  • Respectful customer service skills
  • Patience and enthusiasm for children and teens are a must!

Part-Time Bilingual Page
Salary/ Pay Rate 10.00 per hour and up depending on experience.

Job description

The Johnson Public Library seeks a part-time bilingual page to work 16 hours per week.

The schedule would be as follows:
Saturdays 10-4, covering the reference desk for lunch breaks from 12-2
Rotating evenings Monday-Thursday assisting in Reference, Periodicals and Circulation.

Education and experience:

Basic Internet skills.
Fluency in Spanish and English.

Responsibilities:

Provide assistance to the librarian at the Reference Desk by helping patrons with computer tasks including printing, file attachments, downloads and basic troubleshooting.

Translate for Spanish speaking patrons.

Pull and check out patron holds.

Keep Reference Desk printers and copiers supplied with paper.

Shelve reference books.

Assist in Periodicals Department as needed.

Assist in Circulation by shelving books as needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Interests:

Excellent customer service attitude and people skills required.
Fluency in Spanish and English.
